MaMa I Want Back to 2008 is an editorial design work that takes
a look back at a media-constructed “collective carnival era” through the capture of images. The project draws on highlights from the news and mass media, interweaving the individual's passion for the memory of prosperity with the context of the times. The single text repeated throughout the book, namely the title ‘Mom, I want to go back to 2008’, is like a brand slogan, presented as a strong cry, which is both an externalisation of emotion and a response to the symbolism of the transience and fragility of lost memories. Through dynamic visual forms, the work explores how the media participates in the shaping of memories and emotions, and captures the complex tension between individual and collective emotional resonance
in a specific era.
